The Annual General Meeting will once again be held virtually on the Pharmacists Manitoba Zoom webinar platform to enable maximum member participation. This free professional development session for Pharmacists Manitoba members delves into the current applications of artificial intelligence in healthcare and pharmacy, distinguishing between lower-risk administrative functions and higher-risk clinical tools, such as AI-enabled clinical decision support systems. Participants will examine critical risks associated with these technologies, including bias, hallucinations, data limitations, overreliance, and privacy concerns, highlighting their importance for patient safety, professional accountability, and public trust. Through a pharmacy-specific lens, the session will focus on how to critically evaluate AI outputs, apply ethical and informed-use principles during patient interactions, and safely integrate AI into dispensing, counselling, medication reviews, and interprofessional communication. Additionally, the Canadian regulatory landscape for healthcare AI, including Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), will be reviewed, emphasizing that regulation does not replace clinical judgment or the professional responsibilities of pharmacists.
